Yes, we talk a lot about Lakewood Elementary and how amazing it is, thanks to a very active parent group, the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA. But let’s not forget that there are other great elementary schools in this area, including Stonewall Jackson Elementary.

This is an amazing, trend-setting campus that started its own educational garden before they were de rigeur. And surrounding this great elementary campus are some super cute neighborhoods, including Wilshire Heights. This lovely area is bounded by Mockingbird Lane on the north, Abrams road on the east, and Skillman on the west. It has great walkability and density without losing that close-knit neighborhood feel. On one of the through streets you’ll find 6346 Anita, a superb little traditional with some really fabulous updates. It’s listed by Randi Rummer of TexHomes Realty for $309,900.

With three bedrooms, one full bath, and more than 1,400 square feet, this home is perfect for a small family or empty nesters looking to downsize and simplify. Built in 1950 and recently updated, this home still features some amazing details original to post-war traditional architecture, including ornate crown moulding and a lovely back porch. You’ll adore the refinished hardwood floors, too, and if you think you’ll be turned off by the single bathroom, wait until you see this stunner.

Of course, this home is super cozy, and with a fireplace, archways, and remodeled kitchen, you’re sure to be comfy at home during the next Icemaggedon. You’ll appreciate the updated light fixtures, too, including the can lights in the kitchen. Travertine, stainless steel, and granite line this updated commissary, which has French doors opening to the backyard.

Now, the bathroom has a vanity, an oversized Kohler jetted tub, and a full-sized shower with dual heads to get you really, really clean. Tons of neutral stone and granite, with a mix of chrome and oil-rubbed bronze hardware keep it from feeling too modern. Sure, its a lot of features crammed into a bath, but with only one commode in this house, you’ll be glad to have it all.

The backyard is so lovely, too, with a nice covered deck that leads from the kitchen to the garage. You also have a lovely little backyard, not too much maintenance for those who want to downsize but just enough room to have a labor-of-love garden.

I think this home is a great property at a good price for a wonderful neighborhood. What do you think?
