Keller Williams Dallas City Center To End Keller Williams Affiliation – Yeah

by Karen Eubank

The agents at Keller Williams City Center don’t have a date yet, but they will soon have a new brokerage identity. The office is de-franchising from Keller Williams and launching as independent agents under a new brokerage, ending a loooong  (11 year) KW affiliation. They have moved from their Mockingbird Station office where they parked 12 years ago and are already tucked into a beautiful, brand new office  at the corner of McKinney and Monticello where Highland Park, Uptown and the M-Streets meet. I think, correct me if wrong, this was the first KW franchise in town?

So funny, there’s another broker right across the street: Allie Beth Allman.

Rumors have been rampant for weeks that broker/owner Mike Miller was getting ready to unveil some big plans, and we’ve got the inside skinny: Keller Williams Dallas City Center plans to shed their Keller Williams brand and become the newest independent real estate firm in Dallas. Not sure of the name just yet, though we think Dallas City Center has a nice ring to it.

No stranger to such ventures, Miller was a founding partner of the Dallas City Center office 12 years ago. And Kevin Caskey, team leader, was one of the very first Keller William agents in Dallas.

The new offices are sleek and contemporary, not your grandma’s real estate agency by a long shot. In fact, I may want to lease space: there’s a top level gym right in the building.

This was a building Kevin Caskey says they always wanted to be in, and recently the price became right.

“Our agents are very excited about the change,” Kevin Caskey, Director of Dallas City Center, said. “We’ll be offering additional services, new opportunities and fresh new branding focused on the current consumer driven market”.

Amen. Caskey wouldn’t comment on this, but scuttlebutt is that when Miller found his juicy new location, there was a turf battle uproar from two other KW offices — Elite in Preston Center, and Uptown off Turtle Creek. The powers that be invoked some mileage rule to keep them at bay, then asked them to merge into one big happy family, but instead of moving OR merging, they said “see ya”.  Sources tell me they have requested brokerage release papers but have not received them yet. But they are putting the finishing touches on a new Dallas City Center logo which we somehow managed to obtain for a sneak peak.

Be on the lookout for upcoming details about the Dallas City Center launch party…we all know how notorious DCC is for their events and partees! Oh and the logo: right on!

Keller Williams south of 635 is just not up to par. All of the franchise investors can’t get along – point in case on this fiasco. Playing the blame game doesn’t help anyone and just hurts KW’s image. It appears to be such a successful real estate compnay nation wide and they can’t hold a candle to dpm, briggs or Allie beth. If Keller Williams wants to succeed in that part of Dallas they need real leadership and real investors – from the top down. Keller Williams far out does other brokerages all over Dfw, just not in Dallas. As a competing affiliation it’s great seeing Keller losing so much momentum but given a real shot with real leadership (mike Brodie, osbornes, Trosclair) they would dominate the area like they do other places. Looking forward to competing with another startup though!

Hmmmm, I happened to hit "nearby" on my iPad last night and saw that Mike Miller and Marcus Liesner were both at the Palm Springs Boat Show! I am in Clearwater, Florida. Could it be someone paid Mike a chunk of change for him to move and he is shopping for the dream boat ?

This is exciting news. It looks like TREC has updated to show the DBA as Dallas City Center Realtors.

From every conversation I have had, there is no KW animosity. There is no particular negative reason to depart from KW, it as been an excellent affiliation. The rationale for our change will not be in any way to slam KW, we have loved it. However, this is a very exciting time for Dallas City Center. As far as being a "start up" company….. NOT! DCC is primarily seasoned, successful agents that have had the opportunity to participated in extensive training on an on going basis. That will not change. Weekly training is one of our models. Agents helping agents is what we are all about. Our "models" will not change. Our comradary as an office that works hard "and plays hard too" will not change. I am excited to give this change 100% support. There will never be ANY Keller Williams bashing on my part. I have not heard a single other agent speak negatively about KW either, we support our KW freinds throughout the Metroplex!

I have to say whoever Jdee is, is pretty spot on. I haven't heard any KW animosity between agents either but we all know the leadership and/or the investors/owners do not get along in that part of town, otherwise DCC would still be KW. The franchise got pulled because the other investors in the other offices didn't like their new – and stellar – location – and from the rumor mill it was KW's "last straw" with Mike. Speaking to the head in the cloud post above about utilizing the same model and pace of business as KW proves the point that DCC would still be KW had the other office's investors not gotten their feelings hurt – or whatever – and I did say investors NOT agents. Which goes back to Jdee's point of view and being spot on – the agents are great while the investors are not. I hope nothing but the best for DCC. Kevin Caskey is great and highly admirable as are their agents. Its great that DCC agents are on board – I hope they do awesome and know they will! For what its worth, I don't think its necessarily a start up because they will be "borrowing" the KW system they already use – but those agents that want a national brand may feel like they are in a start up in the sense of being "on their own."

If JDee is talking about Dee Dee Trosclair….you have it all wrong. Maybe that is your view from the outside being from another Broker. But in actuality Trosclair hasn't shown her face at DCC since Kevin Caskey has been Team Leader. Is that the kind of Regional director you want? What does that say about her leadership? If polled, I think most if the agents at DCC wouldn't know who she is. Get your facts straight!!
