“Spacious” and “bright” are the keywords for our Friday Five Hundred, a totally renovated Ranch located in Old Lake Highlands at 10743 Lanett Cir.

Sitting on over half an acre, this property has the feel of an estate. It’s on a horseshoe street in the interior of the Mediterranean Gardens neighborhood, so it’s private. And with all the mature shade trees and established landscaping, it got “urban retreat” written all over it.

This property has four bedrooms with two master suites, three full bathrooms, one half bath, and 2,626 square feet on one story, built in 1964. The developer is Pytcher Homes, a residential real estate company based in North Texas specializing in renovated properties, and they’ve done a marvelous job. From the open floorplan and hand-scraped hardwoods, to a spa-like master bathroom with a frameless glass shower with body jets.

Old Lake Highlands is part of the White Rock Lake community, with close proximity to everything East Dallas. It is almost completely surrounded by greenbelt and sits atop some of the highest elevation in Dallas. If green space is a priority, this is a great location, as the neighborhood includes lots parks along the creeks that feed into White Rock Lake, including McCree Park, walking distance from this home.

Established in 1946, Old Lake Highlands has made up of about 1,700 homes. The boundaries of the neighborhood are Northwest Highway, Buckner Boulevard, and Lake Highlands Drive. This house is zoned for Richardson ISD, including the coveted Wallace Elementary.

With such charmed drive-up appeal—big shade trees, perfectly manicured lawn—the expectations are high for the interior. You won’t be disappointed. The renovation totally opened up the floorplan to create great flow and a spacious living room-dining room-kitchen area. The staging makes the flexibility of the floorplan apparent.

One rare feature of this Old Lake Highlands Ranch: a big mud room off the breakfast area with built-ins for shoes, coats, and bags. Very handy. Other great features: a large walk-in closet in the master; gorgeous granite in the kitchen and bathrooms; and a huge backyard with multiple seating areas, including a patio covered by a pergola.

It was listed Monday by Kevin Caskey with Dallas City Center Realtors for $598,500. There’s an open house this Sunday from 2-4 p.m., so let us know if you pop by and what you think of this property.

Beautiful home, but this is not in Old Lake Highlands – it’s Highland Meadows, the North side of NW Highway.

    Yeah, a single story home.

The orthopedic surgeons are making plans for Bentleys and yachts as they study the statistics on middle aged
homeowners purchasing the tons of McMansions just before the weakest part of the body gives out; the knees.

Also looking forward to a life and retirement in luxury are those who sell elevators and chair climbers for stairways.

If your lifestyle calls for preferring an upstairs summer temperature fifteen degrees warmer than the downstairs, you should look for a two story home.
