The home at 3616 Edgewater St. is one of four Dallas open houses we’re featuring this week in our round-up.

Who needs the holidays to be filled with good cheer when there’s such great real estate on the market?

We’ve rounded up four Dallas open houses for you to visit this weekend. They range in price from $399,990 to $1.199 million, and show a range of inventory on the market now!

Scott CarlsonPart one: Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s has begun an acquisition process that is part of their overall strategy to have a stronger presence in Lakewood area real estate. Today they made part of that process official: Robbie Briggs has acquired Scott Carlson Real Estate.

And what a presence! Scott Carlson, a force of nature in the Lakewood residential real estate market, is a force of nature himself.

6934 Tokalon FrontYou just don’t see homes like this hit the market too often. And when they do, it takes just the right buyer to maximize its potential. And boy, is there just tons of potential with 6934 Tokalon, a California-style Midcentury Modern listed by Scott Carlson for $1.2 million.

6934 Tokalon Front Door

Located on one of the most sought-after streets in all of Lakewood, this home has some stunning original features that will have any mid-mod lover go weak in the knees. Check out the incredible window clusters, the gorgeous curved brick wall, the stacked elevation, and the Los Angeles-style front gate. That’s the perfect way to avoid the paparazzi!

6934 Tokalon Entry
“Tokalon is the prettiest street in Dallas and located a few blocks from the shores of White Rock Lake,” Carlson said. “This unique, pure Midcentury Modern is situated among multi-million dollar homes on beautiful lot with magnificent trees. It’s move-in ready, or seller has amazing plans for addition and renovation. Awesome opportunity for that rare connoisseur of unique architecture and design.”

We couldn’t agree more.

With three bedrooms, two full and one half bath, and almost 3,000 square feet, this home is perfect for someone looking for the perfect place to entertain and doesn’t mind the hard work of a remodel. Really, this house is meant for a person who has inspiration. Imagine what you could do to really bring this home into the 21st century! Start with a luxurious neutral color palette, throw in some unique materials, and use clean lines to really emphasize the space.

The walls of windows and warm wood floors are just the balm for the stark white interiors. The fireplace makes the whole first floor feel gracious, too. Really, this home has such an amazing floor plan. Some of the fixtures and finishes are dated, as you will see in photos of the master bath and closet, but this is a home for a true lover of midcentury architecture, and likewise, it will be a labor of love.

Besides an amazing structure, this home is located inside the Lakewood Elementary attendance area, which feeds into acclaimed Woodrow Wilson High School. It’s an outstanding family home, and also has fresh landscaping throughout the grounds.

I am sure it will be snatched up by someone who wants to turn this beauty into a show-stopper, worthy of any of the myriad amazing home tours that cover Lakewood and Dallas. I can’t wait to see what it looks like afterward!

6929 Casa LomaToni Brinker and T. Boone Pickens – –that is, Mr. and Mrs. Pickens — may be saturating West Texas with romance, but we have a fair share of it in Lakewood. Love is in the air in the newly-renamed Lakewood Hills, or so Lakewood Realtor Scott Carlson tells me. He just closed 6929 Casa Loma Avenue for a record-breaking $799,000 – that’s $234 per foot.

This Classic Georgian was restructured and redesigned by Angie Link of Transition Homes. Angie has a formula for success and is well known in Lakewood for her classic design and tasteful renovations with open floor plans and beautiful, timeless finish-out, says Scott.

“I sold the home immediately by co-brokering with long time Lakewood resident and agent Kate Looney Walters, who was a delight to work with,” says Scott.

The young, first-time home buyers are engaged to be married this coming July. There was so much joy and excitement with this transaction, says Scott, it was a perfect precursor to Valentine’s Day.

“A new home, bride and groom to be … and a wonderful new neighborhood in Lakewood by LCC and White Rock lake,” says Scott.

Located in Lakewood Schools, Scott says this most sought out neighborhood is going through a major transformation and redevelopment. The small cottages are being bought up by many, many builders. The neighborhood association has even changed it’s name from Gastonwood/Coronado Hills to the new Lakewood Hills! A picturesque walk through the middle of Lakewood County Club golf course to all the new restaurants and the historic Lakewood Theater makes this neighborhood extremely desirable. It is also only mere blocks to the new Lakewood YMCA currently under construction. Lakewood Hills is also located on the new SANTA FE bike trail.

6929 Casa Loma kitchen“Ryan and Lindsey are a beautiful young couple, Ryan is in oil and gas and Lindsey reps wine for her family’s vineyard in Napa,” says Scott. “Angie was gracious enough to allow them to choose some of the final finish out. The home came together beautifully with the young couple love, excitement and happiness.”

Of course, the home will be Ryan’s bachelor pad until the wedding, this being a classic old fashioned, soon-to-be couple they are living apart before their wedding. Quite Refreshing!

“I’m sure they will have an awesome honeymoon!” says Scott. “First thing on the wall: a flat screen tv!!! The rest will be all those registered gifts soon to arrive!”

8205 Forest Hills Front

Josy Cooner-Collins, co-owner of modern furnishings retailer Scott+Cooner, has her fingerprints on many amazing interiors in Dallas, but her most famous would be the W Hotel in Victory Park. With sleek design and fun details, everything Josy touches turns out amazing. Tons of curves and pops of color make her projects stand out.

8205 Forest Hills WalkwayThis design philosophy carries over to Cooner-Collins’ own home, a beautiful, vast Hill-Country-style abode in Forest Hills. A short walk from White Rock Lake and on a huge lot, this six-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath beauty doesn’t disappoint. It has an organic modern vibe, with natural materials and clean lines. For Cooner-Collins, it has been a place her family has loved. However, it’s time to move on, she says.

“Our family is not as big as it once was. We have a total of five children, and only two are still at home,” Cooner-Collins said. “We adore the house but are excited to have a new chance to build another great house by White Rock Lake.”

I, for one, am thrilled to hear that not only will Cooner-Collins stay in the area, but we get another fabulous home designed and decorated with her amazing style. Of course, 8205 Forest Hills Boulevard is a work of art in its own right, with dry-stacked stone on the outside, polished blue limestone inside, and niches and nooks for art and collections of all kinds throughout. This 5,375-square-foot home is listed for $1.7 million by Scott Carlson.

“I love the layout, as everyone has their own space when in the house,” Cooner-Collins said. “We can have a dinner for 20 and the kids, who range in age from 8 to 33, can have their own space in it.”

It also feels private thanks to the immense front yard, which clocks in at close to an acre, she said. Other features that Cooner-Collins adores include the chef-worthy kitchen, the view of the pool from the master suite, and the way guests can gaze at the Japanese garden from the guest suite.

The location is a gem, too, she said.

“I am an avid runner and love having the lake two blocks away,” Cooner-Collins said. “That has been a wonderful element.”

With a mixture of linear elements and gorgeous natural materials, this family home is, as Cooner-Collins calls it, “warm and modern.” We totally agree.
