I pass by this gorgeous, gigantic, classic Tudor at 622 Newell Avenue almost every evening as I walk the dogs. Two years ago I did a staging consultation with the sellers and Cassie Evans wrote about it for the blog, so I was surprised to see it back on the market this week.

You see, people tend to never leave Hollywood Heights. They move, but they move within the neighborhood. For example, both of the neighbors across the street from me have moved to larger homes in the neighborhood. And both of their homes sold within 30 days. A house on Monte Vista listed Saturday and went to contract Monday. This is reflective of what’s happening in general with real estate in our market, but Hollywood Heights, specifically, is hotter than ever. (more…)

3603 Asbury Street
How’d you like to get into a Park Cities traditional home for under a million? Well, today’s your lucky day. Molly Hurt with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s just listed 3603 Asbury for $829,000.

This is a real gem of a home. Lisa Luby Ryan, the extremely talented designer and principal with Luby Design Associates— who also owns the wonderful home furnishings boutique, Vintage Living, took it down to the studs for her friend, Lucy Johnson. Johnson is also a realtor with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s. Take that in for a moment: two women, who each know a great deal about houses, working together. It’s a given that no detail was overlooked, and the result is not only something spectacular but completely unexpected. That is, it’s unexpected to the passerby or anyone driving up because you cannot possibly imagine what has transpired behind that front door.

And it’s a perfect example of why you can’t judge a book by its cover.

Lake Highlands IHOTW

The love for Lake Highlands runs deep. It’s commonplace to find people that grew up there, moved away to begin careers then moved back as soon as they could to raise their families. Richardson ISD is also a big draw, with fierce school loyalty in every part of Lake Highlands. It has the perks of a suburb without really being one because it’s close to everything.

If you long for the TV series version of a neighborhood, where you are actual friends with your neighbors, the kids really run out to play after school, and people are engaged and active in the community, this Lake Highlands custom home is move-in ready!

Donald Wright with the Wrighthouse Group at Gilchrist & Company Real Estate just listed, this gorgeous two-story home at 9778 Spring Branch Drive for $1.12 million.

Nothing defined an era more than the 14-year run of the television series Dallas. The entire world was caught up in the complicated lives of the Ewing clan, and all we wanted to know was “Who shot J.R?” I remember traveling in London at the time, and the moment people found out I was from Dallas, that’s all they could talk about.

Nothing before or after the original series has created that sort of international interest. It cast our fair city in a brighter light and made everyone fall in love with the idea of “bigger is better.” Big cars, bigger hair and of course, the biggest houses. The infamous Dallas TV home of the Ewing clan is one of the biggest, one of the best, and it’s for sale. Allie Beth Allman has it listed for $12.95 million.
