If the thought of building a home makes you break into a cold sweat, we have the solution. Our Inwood National Bank House of the Week is a stunning Bluffview luxury contemporary at 4421 Bluffview Boulevard by Phillip-Jennings Custom Homes. If you don’t want to wait for a custom build, this one ticks every box — and then some.

First, it’s stunning. Second, it’s energy-efficient. Third, it’s a URC smart home. That means you control everything — lights, sound, security — all from your phone. Fourth, it has some of the most innovative design features we’ve ever seen. This house is a direct result of what happens when the builder and client have a great relationship.

“This was one of the easiest design processes we’ve been through with any client,” Phillip Fristoe, president of Phillip-Jennings, said.

Allison Seidler chose the construction materials, and our client liked everything she put in front of him.” Of course, Fristoe has quite the reputation and a very talented team, having been in the industry for over 20 years.

One of the things we love most about this home is the entry. A courtyard should be a part of every home. It’s an idea that has long been part of Spanish architecture, and it’s lovely to see a modern spin on the theme.

“The courtyard wall really acts as the front door,” Fristoe said. “It’s tall enough to produce privacy but still give an open feeling.”

They lead into the main open-plan living area, and it’s hard to know which way to look first. The floors are rift cut white oak and seem to go on for miles. The fireplace has a cold rolled steel floating hearth with a floor-to-ceiling stone surround. And then you look up and catch your breath.

“We wanted to try and provide some interest and get away from the traditional flat ceiling,” Fristoe said. “We have hidden LED light troughs that give it a glow, which is nice when you are entertaining.”

The kitchen is the pièce de résistance. “Everything was about symmetry and not seeing clutter,” Fristoe said. “We wanted to get small appliances off the counter and out of the way.”

The solution was to create stations.

“It’s like a kitchen on a luxury jet,” Coldwell Banker listing agent Keith Yonick said. “Everything is efficiently thought out. It’s not a design I’ve seen anywhere.”

The practical part of the kitchen is hidden behind the glass mosaic main wall that houses the range. What takes front and center are the gorgeous Calcutta marble waterfall island, the stunning LED down-lit bar area with a mother of pearl mosaic wall covering, and the smoked glass mirrored surfaces on all of the butler’s pantry cabinets. Every material is luxurious yet elegantly refined, so no one element overpowers another.

The first-floor master suite has vaulted and beamed ceilings, a sitting area, and private patio. There’s also a study nook just off this area. The bathroom, however, is the focal point. Marmara marble tile runs under the tub and up onto the shower wall on a field of Aspen White polished marble.

Although it might seem this 6,633-square-foot house was designed for entertaining, it was built with children in mind. There are five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a powder bath, and a large secondary living area upstairs that makes a perfect playroom.4421 Bluffview 244421 Bluffview 254421 Bluffview 264421 Bluffview 35

The backyard was also designed for growing kids, with a party-perfect loggia and a huge lawn designed by Garden Designs. If you are a pool person, there is plenty of room for a large one, and you’ll still have loads of space to kick a soccer ball around.
