My campaign website is complete and ready for you to check out! We gave it a spin around the block, and she (he?) is purring like a kitten. I invite you to take a look, sign up for our newsletter, and stay in touch with us. We need money, volunteers and lots (DIRT!) where we can put our soon-to-be-revealed, oh so sexy, signs.

If, however, we left any nuts or bolts loose, please do tell us and we will get out the screwdriver.

Speaking of nuts and bolts, lots going on with city issues this week: John Wiley Prices’ federal corruption trial began, but opening arguments will come on Monday. Guess a juror got sick. His indictment is 107 pages long. He is accused of taking more than $900,000 in bribes in exchange for helping businesses seek approval from Dallas County. Our tax dollars at work…

More plans and ideas to solve the Police and Fire Pension mess are bubbling up, and at least two do not involve increasing city taxes OR clawing back money from current pensioners. Oh and HUD is combing through City Hall, looking for missing documents relating to low income housing.

Oh and did you know we have hogs in Dallas? Shocker, I know. Our state Agricultural Commissioner, Sid Miller, decided it is okay to poison feral hogs in Texas with Warfarin. The Dallas City Council said, um, no. Council voted to pay a company $347,100 to “humanely trap and remove” hogs in Dallas. There was discussion as to why we allow the coyotes and bobcats to run free, but discriminate against the piggies. Once caught, these hogs will be sent to the slaughterhouse in Fort Worth. Do not tell this story to your child or grandchild if they read Pookie.

Forget the poison, save tax dollars on the trappers: send those hog up to District 11 where our coyotes will get them!

Regarding JWP: Yes, a juror was ill, however that has no bearing on the flow of the trial. The attorneys selected another juror from the alternate pool and court was in session at 9:51 AM CST. The indictment was read word for word which took all day. Friday was a scheduled “off/rest the brain” day, and rightly so after 100+ pages were read aloud. So the opening statements will be made on Monday. I have no idea how packed the room will be, but Sam Merten and I intend to be there by 8 AM CST.
