Interior Designer Ashley Bell’s Lakewood Austin Stone Home is what renovation dreams are made of.

Get ready to say the words, “Is it available fully furnished?”

You know what they say about the devil being in the details? Well, every detail of interior designer Ashley Bell’s Lakewood home feels like a guilty pleasure. Though the house itself features meticulous updates, we guarantee you’ll be just as taken with all of the trappings as you are with the home’s beautiful bones.

One of the stars of last year’s Lakewood Home Festival Tour, 6934 Meadow Lake Avenue is 2,770 square feet of serendipity.

‘A Gem-Box Property’

Homeowners Bell and her husband, Mike, promised the previous owners they wouldn’t change the footprint of the 1941 Austin stone home. They kept that promise. The resulting renovation stands out as a perfect blend of old character and modern design.

“The Bells have done such a service to Lakewood,” said Skylar Champion, of Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate. “By renovating this house to absolute perfection, instead of letting it be torn down and replaced, they created a unique, gem-box property that is a true asset to the neighborhood.”

Although the Bells took the interior down to the studs, they preserved the original mouldings wherever possible. The 2014 top-down renovations include a newly-added master bath, powder room, and breakfast nook. The couple also created a cozy attic study, which is flooded with natural light. Rich hardwoods throughout play the perfect contrast to the home’s airy open spaces.

“Being a designer, I filled the house with the best-of-the-best, in terms of finish out,” Bell said, “But the light that comes in every morning just might be the home’s most gorgeous feature.”

Contemporary Charm

Throughout the first floor, beautiful expanded archways strike that difficult-to-achieve balance between honoring the home’s historical character and creating a contemporary, open floor plan.

As you move through the home, you can’t miss the designer details at every turn. We love the mix of brass pulls and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen.

Other custom touches include gorgeous hand-stamped wallpaper in the office and entry.

Bell’s obvious passion for lighting is particularly noteworthy. Her talent literally shines in the stunning light fixtures throughout the home. Though, the teal ceiling of the master bedroom really steals the show. What drama!

Finally, the three-bedroom, two-and-one-half-bathroom home is listed at $899,000. The property also boasts a freshly updated exterior, new front door, and a short walk to Lakewood Elementary. We don’t have to tell you to hustle. The exquisite care shown to this property (by a talented designer, no less) means it will fly off the market.
