Oak Lawn Luxury Townhouse: A Global Vacation Without Leaving Home

We are equally blown away. In fact, we’re totally enamored of this property.

“I’d seen these townhouses before,” said Habgood. “But the present owner came in and reimagined this one with an almost whole-house renovation.  He made it very transitional with museum-finished walls and new hardware and fixtures.” And of course, that thematic approach that just makes it all work beautifully.

Glance right when you enter the door, and you’re in a beautiful seaside Nantucket-styled guest room that would easily garner Ralph Lauren’ s stamp of approval. You know he’d love the rowing oars affixed to the ceiling.

The main rooms are beautifully classical. Just between the dining room and kitchen you are transported to a Kelly green Irish pub complete with a tapped keg.

The kitchen is a dream in white and Equator Maramar marble, new light fixtures from Ralph Lauren, a country farm sink, and Waterworks faucet. Be still my beating chef’s heart.

“The seller found a Civil War-era roughhewn pine and had it imported and milled on site to create the study,” Habgood said. “It’s a statement room.” The teak door is from a 150-year-old home in Northern India, further cementing that this house really is a traveler’s dream.

Ok, you’ve seen plenty of elevators in Dallas, but nothing like this. The seller created an homage to a British telephone booth. Although most English phone boxes don’t have a floor-to-ceiling Union Jack flag, we think it adds just the right touch of whimsy.

Then, of course, there is a Waterworks soaking tub. “When I see those stand-out selections, they take your breath away,” Habgood said.

 

 

The pièce de résistance is the fourth-floor Moroccan-inspired rooftop deck with breathtaking views. “It’s magnificent,” Habgood said. “The seller created stand-out moments in this house by taking small elements and bringing them to life.”

We cannot fathom a more sophisticated luxury townhouse in a better location. Located just off Oak Lawn Avenue and within walking distance to one of our favorite watering holes, The Mansion Bar, it’s perfection.

With the Super Bowl looming this weekend, Habgood and Hewitt are waiting to host an open house until Feb. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m.
