Who Knew That Fort Worth Offered Lake-Front Property?

9212 Heron Drive – Oasis on the Lake (photos: Shoot2Sell)

Did you know that Fort Worth had high-end lake front property just 11 miles from the center of downtown Fort Worth?  Me neither.  I’ve lived in Cowtown for almost 15 years and I never knew that.  I’ve certainly driven on Highway 820 North and crossed Lake Worth, but never realized what a fabulous destination it was for homes.  I guess I should get out more!

Warm & inviting, tranquil surroundings all in Tarrant County

It’s true — 9212 Heron Drive in Fort Worth is a fantastic home where you can be boating in Lake Worth one minute and hanging out in Sundance Square just 15 minutes later.

Built by David Lewis in 2006, this home is a getaway only minutes from downtown Cowtown

Built in 2006, this oasis on the lake offers a respite from the hustle-and-bustle of everyday life while keeping you in Tarrant County.  And what a house 9212 Heron Drive is; definitely something to check out.

With 3,700 square feet of open spaces, this Mediterranean style home built by local upscale builder David Lewis offers the look-and-feel of an exclusive resort or holiday getaway.

Previous owner designed mosaic tile design to fit the festive surroundings

There is just something about this home that makes you relax upon driving up to the home on the gravel motor court and entering the double front doors.  Whether it’s the scored and stained concrete floors, the soaring entryway with beautiful wooden beams, or mosaic tile artwork on the kitchen island, you almost feel you are in a remote island paradise.  I almost expected Ricardo Motalban and Herve Villechaize to appear saying “Da plane! Da plane!(A little “Fantasy Island” reference to those keeping score at home.)

Couldn’t you get used to this? Me, too!

If you are tired of relaxing in the home or on the deep patio overlooking Lake Worth, a small beach and private boat dock are just steps away.  With direct access to Lake Worth, boating, skiing or fishing can be enjoyed year-round.  Now you don’t have to pack up the old metallic peat wagon queen family truckster and leave for the weekend to enjoy all that “lake life” has to offer.

What other home in Fort Worth has a stained glass window of a wine goddess?

Created in 1914 as a reservoir, Lake Worth is located entirely within the Fort Worth city limits.  It is a shame that this unique and natural feature of Fort Worth isn’t promoted more.  There is even a myth that a half-man, half-fish roams the waters looking for bow tied realtors to chomp … not really, I made the last part up.

And 9212 Heron Drive is ready for a new home owner.  What more could you want?  A resort-style getaway only minutes from Fort Worth proper, spacious living, tranquil outdoor spaces, pool, spa, water feature, lush vegetation, lake access, mythological lake monster … yep, perfect!

Sandy beaches, private boat dock…just be careful of the Lake Worth Monster!

This beautiful custom home is showcased by Veronica Stimson of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International of Fort Worth.  The home is listed for $795,000.

That’s all from Tarrant County this week Dirty Readers.  Remember, if you have comments, questions, snide remarks or ideas for future stories – I’m always here to listen!
