We’re always excited to see a new Phillip Jennings Custom Home because they have no “signature” style. Each new build is completely unique, so always a delightful surprise. Their latest project is a Preston Hollow soft contemporary at 6307 Stefani. It’s a twist on the Texas modern regional style we’ve been seeing so much of lately. While it bears trademarks of that style, an abundance of light, a strong relationship with the outdoors and an open-plan living area, it’s decidedly cool, clean-lined, and contemporary.6307 Stefani Drive

One of the most striking things about this home is the way light has been used. The house was built to take full advantage of natural light. The private entry courtyard, for instance, is surrounded by glass walls establishing an impressive presence before you ever get inside.

But what’s even more striking is the use of light in the evening.

“At night it’s got a very dramatic vibe,” listing agent Simone Jeanes with Virginia Cook Realtors said. “It’s really special because of the LED backlighting in the ceilings and art niches.”

The recessed lighting in the entry way is truly a touch of genius. It’s not often we see a home that has lighting this well thought out, and the thing is you don’t really notice it — until you do. Then you realize it’s the new must-have.

Like any home, the devil is in the details, and it’s those details that make it clear a master builder is involved. Take the entry’s backlit art wall or the stained white oak ceiling band details. Even with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a powder bath, a game room, and a study, every single room in the 6,441-square-foot home has a little something extra.

We’re especially enamored of the study. This is not your grandpa’s dark, stodgy, wood-paneled, off-limits, sanctuary. On the contrary, nothing could be further from that image than this airy and bright haven. The vaulted ceiling with custom white oak box beam details and a view of the private entry courtyard are enough to add inspiration to any endeavor.

The house was created for entertaining with thoughtful design and great flow.

“The formal dining room is enormous,” Jeanes said. “You can easily seat 10 with enough room left over for a sitting area. It’s really a dream house for entertaining.”
