Paul Kirkpatrick finally found a good reason to part with the home he and his partner spent more than a decade carefully improving and perfecting: Mexico.

Well, Puerto Vallarta, to be exact. As it turns out, Paul is selling his wonderful Wynnewood contemporary to move there. Permanently.

“We have absolutely loved living here and will miss it,” Kirkpatrick said.

I wouldn’t necessarily call it their loss — I mean, it is Puerto Vallarta, people. If you could go on permanent vacation, wouldn’t you? But this High Caliber Home of the Week sponsored by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans is definitely your gain. Nevermind how completely gorgeous it is from the curb — the interiors and backyard couldn’t be more perfect.

Trust us, this home hasn’t been on the market for a full day and it won’t be on MLS long. Don’t wait — once you see these photos you’re going to wish you had called Lisa Peters at Caliber Home Loans and gotten a pre-approval so you could beat the competition for these incredible contemporary digs.

If you’re into taking your chances — hey, some people live dangerously, I get it — there’s a broker open house on Thursday, Sept. 1. If you’re not into living on the edge, jump to see what I’m talking about.

If this home looks a little off in era from the rest of Wynnewood, that would be because the three-bedroom, three-bath contemporary was constructed about three decades after the rest of the neighborhood.

“The home is a one-of-a-kind, architect-built home built in 1987 on what was one of the last plots of land that hadn’t been built on in Wynnewood, which was platted in the 50’s,” said Kirkpatrick, who is listing his 2,965-square-foot home at 635 Bizerte for $599,000.

“The 3 acre lake behind the home is the most arresting feature as you can see,” he added. “It is home to over 100 mallards that winter with us each year. Year-round we have gray and white egrets, many other water fowl, lots of turtles and fish in the lake. It is like a small, private Audubon in our backyard.”

And the huge, floor-to-ceiling and clerestory windows that face this pond give you great views of it. Brilliant architect! I especially love the office and how it feels like a glass house with all of those windows. I could see inspiration striking here. And imagine the parties you could host!

“It’s an amazing entertaining home and so smartly designed so that the whole house is oriented to the views of the lake,” Kirkpatrick said. “It’s a north-facing view, so no direct sunlight. It does feel a bit like a small museum inside as well, with all the large, white wall space and we’ve loved collecting art from all over in the years we’ve been there.”

“We completely gutted and renovated the kitchen and den last spring,” Kirkpatrick said. “The cabinets are rift-cut white oak and the counters are Quartz — a new color called ‘raw concrete.'”

There’s tons of storage, with an enormous island and both walls covered in European-style cabinetry. Everything is absolutely contemporary to a tee, and the scheme works perfectly for home chefs and those who prefer to cater. We love the separate coffee bar and wine bar — perfect for mornings and evenings.

I do love house the home combines more contemporary shapes with warm finishes. Take the bamboo floors, for example. The painted steel railing can feel a bit sterile without that added warmth. However, it’s not strong enough to compete with the views coming inside.

The backyard is tidy and neat, perfect for enjoying a dip in the 50-foot lap pool or for soaking in the hot tub while enjoying the views over the pond. While this home is a stunner that will capture your imagination, you’ll really fall for the neighborhood, said Kirkpatrick.

“Wynnewood is such a special neighborhood with multiple social events, a volunteer safety patrol, and some of the friendliest neighbors in the city.”

With the loss of Kirkpatrick to Puerto Vallarta, we hope the new owners of 635 Bizerte will enjoy Wynnewood at least half as much.
