“I wanted to build a Spanish-classic-modern-style home that blended rustic wooden elements with sleek metal,” said  Juani Longhi. “From the moment I saw the property in Bluffview, I knew it was where I wanted to raise my family. This is truly my dream home.”

Longhi, who purchased the lot 15 years ago, spent six years planning and two years building this magnificent estate at 4512 Bluffview Boulevard. It was completed in 2013 and as is with life, opportunity knocks, you move across the country to dream new dreams, so Longhi’s  five-bedroom, five-bathroom dream home can now be your dream home.

From the moment you see the tile roof and the  front door of this 5,892-square-foot estate, you realize you’re about to enter something special. That door was inspired by a trip to Venice. In fact, the entire home is a compilation of ideas found on family travels throughout the world. Longhi took detailed photos on every trip, knowing one day she would bring them to life.

The plaster groin vaulted ceilings in the dining room, for instance, are inspired by ceilings Longhi saw on trips to Italy. The room keeps classic clean lines with the use of bright white paint and an abundance of light flowing in from massive French doors topped with a fan window. That’s a Global Views Chain Pendant nickel chandelier hanging over the lust-worthy dining table.

The home office is sheathed in wood paneling and there is a repetition of the same French door with fan window above that graces the dining room. Beamed ceilings crown the distinctively old world, yet modern library.

Longhi wanted each ceiling to be special. The 20 x 18 family room has the rustic beams you’d expect, but they’re laid out in a modern grid fashion, making it a focal point of the room. The fireplace continues the modern classic look and keeps that rustic but modern balance in check.

Ralph Lauren chandeliers hang in both the foyer and family room. The lighting in this home is all tasteful, stylish and well, spectacular. “The light fixtures were the jewelry for the house,” Longhi said. Indeed, our hearts are skipping a big beat for the  Global Views light fixture over the honed granite kitchen island.

The backsplash in the kitchen is stainless steel cut into the same size and shape as subway tiles. That’s just brilliant. You again have the classic look, done in a modern element. The kitchen faucets are by Dornbracht, only one of two German companies that import into North America and yes that’s a Wolf range and Sub-Zero refrigerator, of course. There are three ovens, two dishwashers, and two sinks, which translates into entertaining made easy. You’ll also see modern metal in a traditional hexagon backsplash in the wet bar, as well as honed granite countertops.

The master bedroom is on the first floor and generously proportioned to easily accommodate the large sitting area and fireplace. It overlooks the backyard through arched windows and a French door that leads onto a covered patio running the length of the home.

We see those gorgeous groin vaulted ceilings again in the master bathroom. The old world arched style is repeated in the windows, the doorway to the closet, and even on the mirror, but evenly balanced with modern stone elements.

Head upstairs via the stunning metal and wood staircase to a family room, secondary bedrooms, and one of the most stylish media rooms we’ve seen. Rather than just have a screen on the wall, Longhi created a stage, perfect if you have performance inclined children or can’t bring yourself to perform karaoke in public. The light fixtures are Global Views and the fantastic seating was custom made by American Leather.

The backyard is the oasis you’d expect to see with that fantastic covered porch, outdoor seating area with fireplace, outdoor kitchen, and of course a gorgeous pool. The ceiling of the sitting area is situated right off of the family room and grid beamed the same way to create a seamless flow from inside to out.

A home of this size is not complete without a guest house, and this one is just far enough away from the main house to ensure privacy of both homeowner and guest. With 667 additional square feet, a full kitchen, dining room, living room, bedroom, full bath and laundry, beware of just how many friends you tell or they may never leave.

So nice to see a design that’s fresh and original! This should be a real standout.
