Alger Park homes for saleAlger Park in an East Dallas neighborhood you don’t want to overlook. Heavily treed lots, Midcentury cottages, a sense of community pride, affordable price tags, and close proximity to all of the area’s charms are just some of the reasons houses in this area tend to fly off the market.

Today’s Tuesday Two Hundred at 9715 Cloister Dr. is a 3-2 that exemplifies the architectural style and spacious outdoors areas common in the area.

Located just a stone’s throw from White Rock Lake and the Dallas Arboretum, this 1952 cottage charms with well-appointed spaces, and an overall feel of flow and function.

It was listed March 18 by Sandra Breedlove with Ebby Halliday, Realtors, for $298,500.

Tasteful, colorful landscaping adds cheerful curb appeal, and the branches of the mature shade tree, likely at least 60 years old, span expansively above the large front lawn.

Seventeen hundred square feet of renovated interior spaces include spacious rooms and many updates, with memorable kitchen and bathroom features. Refinished hardwood floors, recessed lighting, and numerous details original to this Alger Park home add to the cottage’s special characteristics.

Large windows occupy the front living area, bringing a flood of natural light into the room. A fireplace with gas logs brings a cozy air to the room. The renovated kitchen includes granite tile counters, cream-colored painted cabinets, lots of pantry space, and stainless steel appliances, including a gas range and wine refrigerator. Large windows overlook pretty backyard.

An oversized open doorway leads to a lovely dining room has hardwood floors, built-in display shelves, and an open floorplan feel.

Split bedrooms are oversized and have access to updated hall bath. The master bedroom, like the other two, has hardwoods and the best accessory of all: natural light.

Out back, a covered patio allows for relaxed enjoyment of the large backyard, where current owners have easily made space for a play set for children and two seating areas. Whether it be a trip to the White Rock Dog Park or a visit to Lakewood’s Whole Foods, this home’s location defines convenient location. Coupled with the interior and exterior amenities, it’s the whole package.

Nice interior, tidy exterior. Garage doors could use a bit of spiffing up. They look scuffed and worn. This is always one of my pet peeves regarding listings, and more so with flips. If you’ve taken the time to paint and stage the interior, don’t neglect the garage door(s) — especially if they face the street!
