Let’s face it, Barrow Durrett knows what appeals to Dallas buyers. Their latest custom home at 6335 Pemberton Drive, designed by Fusch Architects, ticks every box and then some. They consistently build properties that hit the mark, not only in construction and style, but also in finish-out and amenities.

Any builder that has the foresight to install an elevator has certainly captured our hearts.

The clean lines and soft tones of the interior were inspired by The Rosemary Beach community in Florida.

The two-story, six-bedroom, eight-full-and-two-half-bath home is a tribute to Colonial Georgian style.

“The exterior was inspired by the Louisiana homes of A. Hays Town, a famous Louisiana architect who was known for his massive two-story porches with shutters going to the floor, large windows, and the use of reclaimed or salvaged materials,” said Hunter Dehn, who has this beauty listed for $2.35 million. “This home is actually built with an antique brick, which is still exposed on the walkways and porches, that was then slurried over the top to emulate the old French Homes that had to have plaster applied over the brick walls in order to waterproof them.”

Completed this year, it sits in the heart of Preston Hollow, so close to St. Mark’s School of Texas that the boys can roll out of bed and be in class in five minutes.

This 7,226-square-foot home is gorgeous. Multiple French doors and large-scale windows allow light to pour through the home, highlighting architectural features. We love the fireplace and white beamed ceilings in the living room, and that molding detail on the dining room ceiling is very classy indeed.

The open-plan kitchen, breakfast, and family room area is exactly what buyers want. We all know this is where the action happens and no one wants to feel left out. We love that the kitchen island is a stand-out and not matchy-matchy. It goes without saying, but of course we will say, that the appliances are top of the line and every cook’s dream.

The master suite is on the second floor but don’t fret, remember we told you there’s an elevator, so even if you find yourself laid up after extreme skiing in Verbier, you can still get to your bed and gaze out at the treetops. The ultimate marriage survival kit is just off the master bedroom, and we do mean his-and-hers closets! Hers has the much-coveted accessory island and enough shoe space to placate Sex in the City‘s Carrie Bradshaw.

All the bedrooms are upstairs with the exception of the first floor guest room so keeping an ear out for the kids is a piece of cake. There’s also a vast second floor living space where the kids can study and entertain pals.

Brick-floored balconies run along both the front and back of the house adding to the charm. We think A. Hayes Town would be tickled pink to see his work inspiring the architects and custom home builders of today.
