This is a real estate blog, but we cover incidents that affect the way we live in our neighborhoods and homes such as a string of violent attacks on shoppers at nearby malls or strip centers. After all, malls and shopping centers are part of the equation that creates residential quality of life. Indeed, this string may make one wonder if we are not safer downtown, where security experts say you are actually safer in an environment with many people out, on the streets, walking. NorthPark Mall is ranked among the top five shopping destinations in the country with more than 26 million visitors annually. It is a top Dallas attraction, and the anchor stores – Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Macy’s and Dillard’s – consistently perform at the top in sales volume, according to the mall’s website.
