Darren Woodson Inducted Into Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor

Woodson extGreat story in yesterday’s Dallas Morning News (and also SportsDay.com) about 12 season Dallas Cowboys defensive back Darren Woodson, who recently bought a home in the northern stretches of Preston Hollow. (Yeah, yeah I know it’s not the “real” Preston Hollow, but it’s nearby.) I loved reading how Darren grew up pretty dang poor in West Phoenix, essentially father-less, how his mother worked two jobs to support her four children and give them the best home she could afford. I also LOVE the story of how his mom worked at the courthouse, became friendly with police, who then helped keep an eye on her sons. It takes a Village to raise kids these days, eyes everywhere… and sounds like Mrs. Woodson was a pretty spectacular mom.

“We were all on the star, and he was talking about the history of this organization and representing that star,” Woodson said Sunday. “I remember looking up and seeing those names – Roger Staubach, Bob Lilly, Lee Roy Jordan — so many great names that were associated with the star. I dreamt one day that hopefully I can get up there.”

And there he is! I hope the Woodson’s are very pleased with their latest nest because it is STUNNING. Almost as stunning as Darren Woodson’s amazing life:

woodson foyer extDarren Woodson recently picked up a stunning new home built by The Hill Group with clean lines and walls of glass dubbed an “architecturally detailed farmhouse”. The home is located on Boca Raton west of Preston. The Woodson’s picked up this beauty in June, paid about $1.8 for complete new construction. The walls of glass have views of the .38 acre’s mature trees and large green backyard.

The home is 5863 square feet with formals, five bedrooms and four full plus one half bath. The kitchen is loaded with the latest gourmet goodies, tip top appliances and a farmhouse sink — oh, that’s why they are calling it a “farmhouse”. Now I get it. Check out the European frameless cabinets & floating staircase up. And check out the master suite — plenty of room for two, of course, but you could almost have the entire Dallas Cowboys lineup in that Master shower! Plus I love how the sinks and even a built-in dresser deal have elevated bottoms so you dust underneath, very smart thinking!

Now for the fun part: looks like Jan Richey of Keller Williams Frisco Stars rode herd on this sale and counts the Woodson’s as clients. Di Brown at Ebby Halliday was the listing agent.
