Luis Oseguera

Luis Oseguera has always been passionate about real estate, but as an accomplished restaurateur in Arkansas with more than 20 years of experience in that field, it was his avocation, not his profession.

“I worked with my family when I was living in Arkansas to help them acquire their first home—after seeing the happiness that came from that, I felt like being a Realtor was something I wanted to pursue at some point in my life,” he said.

When he moved to Dallas with his family in 2005, it was the opportunity he’d been waiting for—Oseguera went to school and got his real estate license. Now he brings his customer service experience and knowledge of building and maintaining client relationships to the North Texas market as a Realtor with Allie Beth Allman & Associates.

As a bicultural and bilingual Realtor, Oseguera works extensively with the Hispanic community in Dallas and brings his communication and negotiation skills to their home buying efforts.

Oseguera, his wife, and four children live in University Park. He makes frequent trips to serve underprivileged communities in the U.S., as well as Mexico and South America when he’s not working in Dallas. We asked him a few questions about what motivates him in his work and why he chose Dallas as his home.

What do you love about being a Realtor?

Seeing the end result. When people and are looking for a home and they give you a specific list of what they need, you do your research on the market and find them the home they want, it’s a very nice feeling.

How does being bicultural and bilingual serve your clients?

My family is Hispanic and we lived in Mexico for several years. Having the opportunity to grow up in a different culture and different country gave me knowledge about the needs of Hispanic people. When they are looking for a home, they want someone who understands their culture, their needs, and their language. I can put myself in their situation from growing up in a Hispanic family.

The Hispanic community in DFW area is pretty substantial and I have clients from Spain, Central America…all over. It is an advantage to be able to offer my [bilingual and bicultural] services to them.

What are your greatest personal strengths and how do those show up in your work?

Honesty and respect for what I do are my greatest strengths. I take what I do very seriously and the opinion of the people I work with very seriously. I feel a great responsibility. That’s my passion—to accomplish what a client needs.

What made you choose to live in North Texas?

The diversity and opportunity in Dallas—it is such a beautiful city and there is so much opportunity for growth not only for myself, but for my family and my four children.

What advice do you offer clients about finding a house in this hot North Texas market?

One of the things I say is to make sure they understand that when you’re looking at houses, it’s easy to get distracted and emotional and forget the budget. They need to be focused on what they can afford. If they forget the budget, that will get them in trouble later on and I want them to feel comfortable and be happy in their house.
