Let’s dream a little dream this Christmas. What Dallas home would you buy if you had your druthers? Would you snap up the huge mega-estate on Manson Court? Would you sign on the dotted line for a penthouse in Museum Tower?

Me? I’d buy this Hill Country Contemporary at 9226 Hathaway. I have been in love with this beauty for so long, with its stone cladding, standing seam roof, and modern lines. It’s the perfect blend of natural finishes and contemporary styling. This Ebby Luxury Portfolio listing from Linda Jordan Hobbs has a fantastic North Dallas location, almost 9,500 square feet, and a gorgeous backyard. It’s on the market for almost $4.3 million.

There’s an almost rustic feel from the exterior of this sizable home, and inside it has a totally Transitional vibe. Lots of traditional accents paired with modern lines, all in with a cool gray color scheme and plenty of light. The wood tones are warm and dark, with fantastic millwork that lets the home speak for itself. This is one of those homes that doesn’t need a whole lot of fancy furniture to make it feel luxurious. Just a few of the right pieces and it shines like a brand new penny.

There are soaring ceilings in the great room, which shows off the open floorplan and the copious windows and doors that make this home, while large, still feel light as a feather. Handscraped hardwood floors are echoed by the exposed beams that lead from the living area to the kitchen, giving the whole home an easy-to-follow continuity.

The kitchen is just a dream. It has a contemporary color scheme with some fantastic cabinetry. I love the long eat-in island, which is perfect for entertaining, and there’s a second island, too, that is perfect for prepping large meals or serving a buffett. Of course, as you’d expect from a home of this caliber, the appliances and finish-out are top-of-the-line, with a gigantic two-oven Wolf range, a built-in refrigerator, and two full-sized dishwashers. There’s a butler’s pantry, too, which is a great spot for mixing cocktails.

The master suite is just enormous, with a separate sitting area that has fantastic views of the pool and backyard, with a separate covered patio and entrance. You can come right into the master sitting area after taking a soak in the spa in the backyard. I love the high ceilings, too, and the size of this bedroom, a whopping 17 x 32, makes it perfect for a king-sized bed and luxurious oversized furniture.

The master bath is a work of art. I love the floors, the vanities, and how the ridiculously large shower frames the stand-alone bathtub. Seriously, the tile, the stone, the dark cabinetry, the clean lines — it all works in harmony and feels neither overly masculine or feminine. It’s just perfect. The chandelier over the tub is the icing on the cake, too. There’s also an epic-level custom closet in the master. I mean, HUGE.

Of course, there’s a great game room, a media room, and plenty of rooms for kids considering that there are five bedrooms, six full and two half baths, and all the extras you’d expect in a contemporary home built in 2013

And the backyard? Well, it’s perfect. I love the little bit of lawn, the perfectly size pool with both a waterfall and a slide, and there’s a spa, too. And while you’re just off the Dallas North Tollway, this backyard still feels very private. Its everything I could ever wish for!
