Former Texas Ranger Kenny Rogers Lists Westlake Mansion for $14.7 Million

1730 JT Ottinger extAllie Beth Allman’s Lille Young has this one nailed — she’s the listing agent to sell former MLB pitcher Kenny Roger’s vast and amazing Westlake estate at 1730 JT Ottinger Road, on 24 acres, designed by our Richard Drummond Davis. The listing is brand spanking new and on the market at a whopping $14.697 million big ones. The home itself is 12,316 square feet and features five bedrooms, six full and four half baths, nine fireplaces (wow!), pool, entertainment pavilion, equestrian center, ponds, guest house and of course a high tech security system.

GetMedia (21)Neil Lettereg over at the L.A. Times says it “sits among hills and meadows on 24 acres with a country French chateau, a guest house, a pool, an outdoor entertainment pavilion and a custom barn with two stalls.”

I don’t know about the hills, but this is the countrified part of Westlake that so many gadzillionaires love because they can have their country and city/airport escape, too. Did I tell you that one of the head honchos over at Toyota bought in my favorite gated community of Vaquero?  Ottinger Road is just west of Vaquero. That’s one of the reasons why this part of North Texas is beating the wallets of Highland Park & Preston Hollow when it comes to personal net worth: Westlake, home to Vaquero and a host of mega-mansion developments, has the highest average annual household income ($526,590) among all North Texas neighborhoods. Westlake landed as the 12th richest neighborhood in the nation based on geographer Stephen Higley’s ranking of the top wealthiest 1,000 neighborhoods in America in March of this year.

Hot Property: Kenny Rogers

The estate is clad in a mixture of field and Austin stone, with huge vaulted interiors, exposed beams everywhere, beautiful moldings, a ton of custom woodworked built-ins and no less than 9 stone fireplaces, each bigger than the next. There is an elevator, a gourmet to beat the gourmet kitchen, formal dining, living, solarium, wood paneled library & study, and all those en suite bedrooms. The garage space is for 6 cars, but you could park plenty more cars here. And you should see the tractor barn! I’ll bet it’s the fanciest tractor barn in Texas.

The master suite has the split his and her bathrooms, two fireplaces, plus a private sitting room. There is also heated flooring in these rooms to keep your tootsies warm on those cold Texas days in January. There is a one-bedroom guest house with two bathrooms and a kitchen.

As for the rounds, magnifique! The covered loggias open onto formal gardens and a central courtyard. The manicured hedges look like Vizcaya. There is also a fire pit, two fishing ponds, an equestrian center because you can truly ride the property, a huge tractor garage that could almost double as an airplane hangar, huge pool and verdant expanses of lawn and meadows.

I think I need a tour, don’t you?
