You know how ga ga I am over JanMar, a neighbor to my own neighborhood, where I have several friends and where I may even end up living someday! JanMar is like a mini Kessler Park tucked away east and north of Preston Hollow with topography, trees, and some of the most gorgeous mid century homes in town — including some from the psychedelic, shagadelic 60’s.7447 Malabar LR2

7447 Malabar counter This stunner was built in 1960, and boasts 4411 square feet, which was a giant of a house then. Double-doors, brick floors, brick walls in the kitchen… this brings back so many memories of home back then! (Sigh.) But here is the coolio thing: Look at 7447 Malabar and you do not see 1960. Walk into 7447 Malabar, and you see 2014 on steroids! This home is all new and sleek sophistication inside and out.  There are hardwood floors, gallery lighting, a fabulous open concept kitchen that would delight any top Chef, stainless appliances, granite countertops & island, a breakfast bar, a wine fridge, huge pantry, casual and formal dining. Also great: the master suite is on the main floor with a knocked out master bath spa: glass enclosed rainfall shower, oversized custom soaking tub, marble fireplace, marble walls, walk in closets, and tons of storage.

The master is down, but upstairs are four more bedrooms. The home has a total of four full baths, plus two half baths. Outside is a pretty pool and an outdoor grill — I think the space could be expanded more into an outdoor kitchen, perhaps even with auto screens, to keep out the skeeters.

7557 Malabar pool playingAs is the case with JanMar, there are huge, mature trees, and the gleaming windows in every room of this house take full advantage of them. The lot is a hefty .398 acre, but seems much larger, and has half the upkeep of a bigger property! The asking price is $1,365,000 with Faisal Halum at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s. And I LOVE that standing seam metal roof. Check it out, and check with the folks at Inwood Mortgage who can find you a mortgage as fast as Monta Ellis can slam one in that basket!7447 Malabar patio

Love those huge picture windows overlooking the pool area! I want to duplicate that dining room. Very chic.

One of my fave homes in Dallas!
If I’m not mistaken Candy, Mike Grossman and George Amerson owned this house in the late 70s -early 80s
