Ed Murchison has established himself as the go-to Dallas Realtor for midcentury modern properties. He’s marketed and sold some amazing homes that are not only gorgeous, but some are like walking on a Mad Men set — completely preserved in their shag carpet and glitter Formica splendor.

We definitely agree. We love the breeze block wall in front of the two-car carport — a common feature for midcentury modern homes in this area. Other stand-out features you’d expect in a 1956 mid-mod include exposed beams in the living room, a gorgeous offset fireplace with stacked stone, an original kitchen with flowing Formica counters and a curved bar, clerestory windows … it’s truly a midcentury dream. It has three bedrooms, two full baths (one of which is a Jack-and-Jill! Perfect for kids!), and 1,459 square feet.
With formals and vintage lighting, you’ll fall in love with this trip back to a very glamorous time. Of course, with how clean and pristine this home looks, we do have to wonder what the owners did to get this home ready for the market? Fresh paint? Refinishing the hardwoods? Replacing a few bits and bobs here and there? Still, you have to admire how ahead-of-its-time this home is, with open living and dining areas that really create a flow for entertaining, perfectly showed off by these photos from Shoot2Sell.
Of course, a home in this condition is going to command a price, and Murchison tells us he plans to list 7024 Whitehill for $299,000, a not-unreasonable asking for this home. The architectural elements are still very much intact, but I’m grateful for some of the upgrades, including the gorgeous marble countertop in the master bathroom. The Jack-and-Jill bath has been kept original, in all of its peachy Daltile glory. We do love the vintage recessed sink, though! Very cute!
Outside you’ll find a lovely patio, great for putting on those super short shorts that only Jon Hamm looks good in, firing up the grill, and letting the play a game of jacks or entertaining guests over Tom Collins’ and a Harry Belafonte record.
