Share News:

belkdayfinal-web (2)We’re living in high cotton now!

You have surely, by now, heard of Belk, the new, hip, but oh so southern department store coming into the old Marshall Fields/Saks Fifth Avenue store at the Dallas Galleria. You recall how we interviewed the store’s (hot) manager, Salem Boohaker, he’s finer than frog hair split four ways. We helped him find a place to roost in Uptown.

Well Belk is gearing up to open its first flagship location in Texas with a not-to-be-missed charity shindig benefiting Susan G. Komen on April 3. They’re gonna have more people there than Carter’s got Liver pills.

At CandysDirt, when we shop we are happy as a dead pig in the sunshine. So we are giving away one pair of tickets worth $100 to one lucky couple to attend this ‘do.

To be clear, Belk will provide one pair of tickets (worth $100) for two (2) very luckier than spit CandysDirt.com readers for their charity event on April 3.

The attire, by the way, is cocktail, and we will be there with enough money to burn a wet mule!

belkclosefinal-webEvent highlights include:

· Celebrity appearance by Nashville star and Belk brand ambassador Hayden Panettiere

· Take home a keepsake photo of you with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders

· Spot some of our special guests such as the Belk brothers, Tim (CEO) and Johnny (COO), Arlene Goldstein (Belk’s VP of Trend Merchandising and Fashion Direction), Nancy Brinker (founder of Susan G. Komen), Pat and Emmitt Smith, Jake Pavelka (formerly of The Bachelor), Kimberly Schlegel Whitman (Southern Living’s editor-in-chief) and local designer Lucy Dang.

· Preview the latest brands now available at Belk Galleria Dallas during a fashion show at 8 p.m.

· Sounds of celebrity DJ Lucy Wrubel

· 100 percent of all donations will benefit Susan G. Komen

· All attendees will receive a $25 gift card. Five lucky winners will get $1,000 gift card/shopping spree, and one lucky guest will win an autographed guitar by Blake Shelton!

The Belk Dallas Grand Opening Charity Event, benefiting Susan G. Komen, will take place on April 3 from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are also available for a $50 online donation to Susan G. Komen’s Passionately Pink for the Cure.

Now what do you have to do to win these precious, coveted charity event tickets? Simple: send us the best southern saying you know that we might could use to name a weekly CandysDirt feature on the southern home. Something like Silk Purse or Sow’s Ear? High Cotton or Bull Tits. Get my drift sugar pie?

You think of it and let us know by this coming Monday. You must put it in the CD comments, not FaceBook. Mark Zuckerman, now he HAS enough money to burn a wet mule. Then we’ll pick a winner, go party at Belk, and get as drunk as Cooter Brown.
