Builder's Beauty of the Week: Joe Kain Builds a Beautiful Home That Won't Break Your Budget

Maplewood Joe KainI have watched Joe Kain build homes for years, making people I know happy homeowners not once, but (often) two times! Joe says he is truly a custom home builder as he builds only as many homes as he can personally stay involved in, from design through completion. Recently I toured two Joe Kain custom homes to inaugurate a new feature here on CandysDirt, “Builder’s Beauty of the Week.”

These homes are not for sale, but they will wow you with what the owners have achieved. I’m going to dig the dirt in this feature, too, so you can get the inside story. If you are in the market to build a home, you need to know the budget basics, and you need to see what you can get for a certain price! Joe Kain is more than happy to share that with you!

We happen to have an abundance of hand-picked home builders on our site. These are the folks I would hire in a heartbeat, folks who will build a home right and not leave you hanging. Recently, a neighbor described her home building experience to me as such: “We love our builder, but he wasn’t the most compulsive.”

Well, to me, when you build a home, you want compulsive! This is your home, the place you are going to live in for years! The average homeowner stays in a home for 5 years, but we have been in our home for (gulp) 14!

Here’s what Joe Kain’s clients say about him: “We love our builder and now consider them very good friends! In fact, we’re going out to dinner with them next week!”

“Joe and I always count it as our greatest joy,” says Arleen Kain, “if we make life-long, dear friends out of the process of building for these families.”

Here is one Joe Kain story: a 5250 square foot, value-conscious,  Highland Park traditional.

This family opted to invest in a sterling location and lot, build the largest quality home they could afford, and invest in structural details — thick Caeserstone counters in the kitchen and lavoratories, wide-plank dark oak floors, architectural integrity and thermo windows. The master bath is huge, a true retreat, offering a his and her’s vanity and a shared, walk-through shower. This is a home to house two small children, hence a playroom and a lot of IKEA design because this smart mom knows she’ll be changing it all out in a few years. The owner also found her own light fixtures, and found a great deal on the dining room chandelier — no one will ever guess what this beauty cost! This house proves that a beautiful, classical house and quality home construction does not have to cost in excess of three million dollars.
