You know how much we love HGTV here at CandysDirt.com. We’re tuned in pretty much ALL THE TIME. Are there any other channels?

So when we got a little ring from Maribeth Peters about a cool new East Dallas home from a former HGTV Design Star contestant, our ears perked up and we were champing at the bit!

Boy, did Maribeth deliver! This adorable 1970s traditional in highly sought-after Merriman Park Estates was completely re-done by Season Four Design Star contestant Jany Lee. An interior designer and world traveler, Lee faced off against Antonio Ballatore as the only Dallas resident from more than 8,700 applicants nationwide.

We love Jany’s style, which features global influences and organic shapes with touches of glamour. You’ll see the hallmarks of her exceptional taste all over 7210 Winedale Drive, which was stripped down and built back up in amazing fashion. With three bedrooms, two and a half baths, and more than 2,400 square feet, this is a family home with all of the features you want. It’s listed for $399,000, but we suspect that someone will snatch this up for upwards of that.

We love the natural materials and muted color palette Jany used in this incredible home, which has travertine tile, natural hardwood floors, Carrera marble counters, recessed lighting throughout, and smooth contemporary walls and ceilings (goodbye popcorn texture!). Heck, this home is so move-in ready you should try to negotiate some of Jany’s incredible furnishings and just put your stuff in storage or on consignment. Yes, that’s how much we love what Jany has done with this home!

The master suite, though, is where Jany’s style really shines. Tons of glamour and romance, with great color and texture, too. With his-and-hers closets, a tray ceiling, and tons of light, it’s beautiful and definitely worthy of being called a retreat.

The master bath is amazing, and if you don’t fall in love with it you better just check your pulse! Check out that amazing chandelier! And you’ll just die when you see the claw-foot tub and that fantastic vintage-style chrome fixture. The marble really ups the luxury factor, too. And that shower is just gigantic! No wonder this home was so popular on the Lake Highlands Early Childhood PTA home tour back in 2011.

Not only is this home gorgeous, but it’s a great investment thanks to the schools, says Maribeth.

“This Merriman Park Estates house is centrally located in Lake Highlands at Walnut Hill and Abrams in super-popular Richardson ISD and is attached to an excellent elementary school, Merriman Park Elementary, which is just a block away,” Maribeth said. “So the homes offers all the benefits of RISD but is just 5 minutes down Walnut Hill to Central/75. Families are flocking to this area due to the schools and it is also a great area for empty nesters since many homes are one stories, centrally located and have been beautifully updated.”

Sounds perfect to me! See the video from the Lakewood/East Dallas Advocate to hear what Jany has to say about her personal retreat!
