Share News:
There’s a lot of hububb going on around the West End aas Dallas prepares to acknowledge the darker side of our city’s history: the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination.
Some people, especially history buffs, are already looking for the best places to scope out the events leading up to the Nov. 22 anniversary. If you’re not squeamish, then perhaps consider renting this amazing historic loft condo next to the Sixth Floor Museum and a stone’s throw from the grassy knoll.
Located inside 509 Elm Street, this historic loft condominium is close to all of the action, as well as DART rail and plenty of great restaurants. With 780 square feet, this studio loft is great for someone who wants a trendy space but not a lot of maintenance. This is truly minimal living, folks.
There’s a large bathroom, and a reasonably appointed kitchen inside this unit, but if you’ve been searching for a spot to take yourself and Fido or Fifi, you’ll have to keep looking because pets aren’t allowed. There are, however, washer and dryer connections — a definite bonus considering the downtown location. You’ll also have access to a community pool, too.
You can rent this unit for $1,195 a month. Look like the spot for you? Contact the Dallas-Fort Worth property management experts at LocalDwelling.com.
Joanna, really? Festivities? It is the anniversary of an assassination of the President of the United States that is being observed. To use the site of Kennedy's murder as a way to hawk real estate is crass enough, but you've gone even farther and turned the thing in to a party.
Oh we respect that, of course, but I think she means the activities that will be going on surrounding the memorial. BTW I heard Robert Caro speak last night at Tate Lecture Series and I was spellbound by his description of the events on November 22, 1963, from LBJ's perspective. A secret service guard threw his body upon LBJ and Lady Bird, and stayed on him until they got to Parkland where LBJ was kept in a secret place against a cinder block wall with guards up. No one was allowed in. The Secret Service had all sorts of plans because they feared the worst — a government conspiracy — a foreign attack. Half the presidents' cabinet was on a plane to the far east! But LBJ took charge and tried to present as brave and unified a face as possible to the nation. Also, Caro said that Bobby Kennedy HATED LBJ — that's the word he used — hated! Bobby actually came aboard Air Force One after it landed at St. Andrews and ignored the Johnsons, LBJ now president, and took Jackie and JFK's body off the plane, leaving the new president and First Lady without steps to descend. Of course, LBJ called Bobby to get the EXACT WORDS for the oath of office he would be taking.
So you see, there will be gatherings and stories and events to commemorate a day I know I will never forget, we will never forget. PS: It's also my husband's birthday!

Sorry Trey, I really don't see that she has done anything wrong here. As a Dallasite and a JFK enthusiast, I am excited about the upcoming commemoration and don't see anything wrong with the article.
