717 Kessler Lake driveI am down at Boot Ranch in the Texas Hill Country on a press trip. The hills are so high here, my ears are actually popping. I’ll be updating you on the growth and expansion of this dynamo second home community and all the goings-ons here (Bourbon tours? More wineries!) over on SecondShelters.com. Boot Ranch homesite_52_3-960x350Meantime, for those of you stuck in the flatlands, I was going to whet your appetite with 717 Kessler Lake Drive, a lot in Kessler Park, which is often described as the beginning of the Hill Country. In fact, the rugged terrain of this part of Oak Cliff makes you feel as if you are in the Hill Country of Texas without leaving 75208, especially on this lot.

But it’s already sold!

Asking $650,000, David Nichols sold this one acre pastoral dream in less than 60 days after the house burned. That home, R.I.P., was a beautiful mid century modern built in 1962 with Viking, SubZero, wine chiller, and two dishwashers, incredible master bedroom and bath, media room and and sound system plus a pool and four-car garage. The home burned down recently while the former owners, both physicians, were out of town. Home or not, David Nichols sold it and the new owners will tear it down to build anew.

The former owners, both doctors, now live in Highland Park.
