My husband and I love almost all of the homes on Eustis Avenue. It’s a short street in Forest Hills, just off of Lakeland. On that street you’ll find at least half a dozen excellent specimens of Midcentury Modern architecture, most of which either restored or renovated.

Usually, when a home on this street hits the market, the ears of all Midcentury Modern architecture lovers prick up as if they can hear the faint sound of keys clacking as “E-U-S-T-I-S” is typed into MLS. So you’ll have to color me a little shocked that 8523 Eustis, a 1953-built and recently remodeled mid-mod is still on the market.

Dori Warner with David Griffin & Co. has the listing, which is priced at $379,000. This is a three-bedroom, two-bath home with more than 1,700 square feet on an almost quarter acre treed lot. There are lots of cool features inside this home, but what you’ll notice right off the bat is the Pirelli flooring. What’s Pirelli flooring? It’s that lego-block-end-shaped rubberized floor you often see in car dealerships and garages. To say that this floor in a residential application is interesting is an understatement. And still, I love it! It’s totally hard-wearing and easy to clean — perfect for kids and serial entertainers.

The kitchen is really beautiful — an example of how you can update a Midcentury Modern home and still keep its vintage soul. I also love the combination of the huge industrial stainless steel sink and the slick black countertops. It goes well with the Pirelli flooring and the white cabinets to give it a more commercial/industrial feel, which is popular in many modern homes right now. There’s also a spacious breakfast bar with tons of light.

The master suite is really cool, in that it is divided with a clerestory-windowed wall into two separate areas that still flow together. The bedroom area gets plenty of light and yet still feels like a private space. It’s a very clever way to increase feel of the room’s size without actually enlarging it. You’ll also notice that there are lovely hardwoods back in the bedrooms, too.

The backyard is just jaw-dropping, too, with fantastic landscape lighting and professionally manicured greenery. The decks that wrap around the ranch layout of the home are perfect for parties that meander a bit. And I love the sculpture in the lawn.

This home is just gorgeous! Are you in love with it, too?
