Tuesday (Le$$ Than!) Two Hundred: School’s Out, Time to Start Looking for a Place for the Cute Coeds to Live, Get Ready to Fall in LOVE!

Fasten your seatbelts, you are going to either die or fly when you see this ADORABLE unit at 5200 Martel in Uptown. 934 perfectly adorable square feet, one bedroom, one bath, just right for a hot new coed who’d like gated security too, thank you. Oh and a great big walk-in closet. It is owned by Jenny Grumbles. Jenny and her mom Fran Holley co-run a shop called Frantiquated. Basically, they find stuff, I mean like junk, in bulk trash bins and then they clean them up (Lysol them too, I hope), fix them up, and sell them in their shop. Some folks just have the eye, the talent to do this, and Jenny Grumbles is one of those peeps. See for yourself:

So what do you get? A great M-Streets ‘hood, Glencoe Park, and home values surrounding you of four times your purchase price. One bedroom, one and a half baths — every SMU coed knows we need to keep our personal potties pristine — kitchen, living room, breakfast, 1-car garage, and a swimming pool where you can hang out and study. Perfect transition from home to school, I think. My daughter had a condo like this when she was in law school in Oklahoma City  and I loved that she could pull into her garage safely. With an asking price of $113,000 you can go get an FHA loan at like 3.5% and never pay (rising, rising) rent again.

Come to think of it, this would also be a great, cheap second home in Dallas — I mean, seriously cheaper (and cuter) than a hotel room!

I looked at a condo in this development back in 2000 when I was single. Loved that you could get a one car garage, a great security feature for a single woman.

(Your daughter went to Oklahoma City University? Great school for law and music. A hidden gem in our great city.)

Cheryl — she started there, finished at SMU. Was in OKC only a year but we love your homes –what is that cool area up near the country club?

Candy you definitely uncovered a gem! Buyers better hurry to take a look because we have a seriously interested party! Oh, and Jenny's store is called "Uptown Country" in Snider Plaza. Franitque is what they do to the junk finds…a true art form that Fran and Jenny have mastered. If anyone wants to visit her store, she has fantastic and affordable gifts – http://www.uptowncountryhome.com/ – located at 3419 Milton Ave.

Candy, I believe you may be referring to Nichols Hills, OKC's answer to the Parks Cities. It's the place to buy and there are a lot of tear downs as well as major renovations. I love it for the great variety of home styles to be found, like ranches, cape cods, neoclassicals, french country, and of course your favorite, the tudor. 🙂 Lots and lots of trees, the lots are decent sized and it's right in the middle of everything so wherever you go, it's close by. If we were forced to move in-town (our addition is surrounded by grazing pastures and farmland), this is the place we would buy in.
